1. Who we are

CarApp (كارآب) is an international transport company providing its services in Mauritania from Nouakchott. For privacy questions: info@carapp-africa.net or 1858.

2. The data we collect

• Account data: your name, phone number and any information you add to your profile.
• Location data: your location to set the pickup point, show nearby cars and track the ride. With “Call & Ride” your location is sent to the service centre; with “Alfani” the place you choose to share is sent.
• Trip data: pickup point and destination, trip time, category, price, payment method and ratings.
• Saved places, plus recent and frequent places.
• Voice messages: when you set your destination by voice with Vocal, your message is processed to understand the destination.
• Contacting us: the information you give when you call the service centre or write to us.
• Device data: such as device model, operating system, app version and crash logs.

3. How we use your data

• Providing the service: receiving your request, matching you with a driver and completing the ride.
• Safety: live tracking, trip sharing, the emergency button and driver verification.
• Showing the price before you confirm, and applying offers such as the new user offer.
• Support, and answering your questions and complaints.
• Improving the app and the service, and preventing fraud and misuse.
• Meeting our legal obligations.

4. Who we share your data with

• The driver: what is needed to complete the ride, such as your name, pickup point and destination.
• People you choose to share with: when you share your trip or a place via “Alfani”.
• Service providers: such as mapping, hosting, telecoms and payments, to the extent needed to provide the service.
• Competent authorities: when the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data. Electronic payments with payment providers (such as Bankily, Masrvi, Sedad and BIMBANK) are also subject to their own policies.

5. Retention

We keep your data for as long as you use the service, and afterwards for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law, after which we delete or anonymise it.

6. Data protection

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration.

7. Your rights

• Ask to access or correct your data.
• Ask us to delete your account and data, subject to what the law requires us to keep.
• Turn off location permission in your phone settings at any time, bearing in mind that booking rides requires location.

8. Children

CarApp services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Website and cookies

The carapp-africa.net website only uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and no advertising cookies.

We may update this policy and will publish the updated version on this page with its last-updated date.
